On the one hand we’re probably watching the greatest QB in the history of football in Peyton Manning. Don’t get me wrong, I hate the guy. But my head says Indianapolis wins Sunday, despite the banged up defense.

On the other hand, the Saints are capable of scoring 35 on anybody and their defense is manned by ball hawks, even though they keep talking about how IF they get to Manning enough…(not when.)

In 1980, we lived in Baton Rouge and had season tickets to the Saints – I’d just turned 16. That year, we (my mom, dad and me) made the trip along the big lake and into the big dome in the big easy eight times to see eight losses. People started attending games with paper bags over their heads – and the Saints became the Aints.  We didn’t do that, but a lot of people did. I also remember a guy who we called Archie Bunker that sat on the row in front of us a few seats to the left. Always intoxicated just enough to be colorful but not obnoxious, his famous cheer that we used back at home was, “Archie – You. Big. Dummaay!”  Don’t get me wrong, I loved Peyton’s dad. He was fiery the same way Brees is. So after enduring my only NFL season ticket experience with the 1-15 Saints, my heart says Saints.
