No one ever takes clients around to meet the marketing department. The marketing department is invisible. We don’t build the products. We don’t land the big sales. We don’t have offices in the corner with couches and windows. We are billy goats who get off on getting people we’ll never meet in person to think twice about something. To get them to consider a new idea. A new perspective. Our only glory comes from each other, and from savvy business people who understand that the reason a company thrives is because of how well the billy goats do their jobs. No, marketing is a solitary practice that takes place under the radioactive glow of florescent lights as we sit in cubicles staring into computer monitors. And no one notices us unless the website goes down.
If you aren’t down with the idea of being invisible, you’ll never last a day as a billy goat.

Peace and quiet;
no questioning. It
only arrives if/when
we are willing, not
happy about losing
any sort of limelight;
never was actually, in
self-imposed exhile did
we? let go of said fantasy.
