A found tank, a few fish, and a year’s time yielded the above pictured kitchen aquarium. It’s a thriving ecosystem with snails, ghost shrimp, red wag platys, catfish and a few guppies. Thriving is appropriate because the first red wags multiplied so fast that the offending male had to be relocated to a safe, undisclosed location.
Hundreds of fry. Too many to name. Not all survived. While the first four all had names – one mistakenly female – we just called their offspring “the babies” until we noticed this little fish who only had a nub for tail. The other 20+ are beautiful, healthy Red Wags.
And not one of them has a name.
