I was raised a Disney kid from way back in the day when Walt appeared on TV every Sunday night at 7 pm in The Wonderful World of Disney. Been to the parks a million times. Seen all the movies. And over the years, a few of the songs have stuck with me. As they probably have with you. Anyway, here are my Top Five Six Seven All Time Disney movie songs.

#5 Be A Man, Mulan

It’s freaking Donnie Osmond. How can you go wrong? Besides, I’m the father of daughters and Mulan is the kind of female Disney character that I wholeheartedly endorse.

#4 One Jump Ahead, Aladdin

Yes, it’s kind of weird to have an Aladdin song in here that doesn’t star the voice of Robin Williams or Peabo Bryson, but I like the energy of this song. And who doesn’t love a singing street rat?

#3 Gaston, Beauty and the Beast

How can you not love a song that includes the line, “I’m especially good at expectorating!” – ? You can’t.

#2 He’s a Tramp, Lady and the Tramp

Did you know that in 1991 Peggy Lee sued Disney for violation of a contract from 1952? She won. And I’m glad she did because it meant that my kids get to hear this great 1:30 song.

#1 Jungle Book, Bear Necessities

This was the last movie that Walt Disney oversaw, and the first one I remember ever seeing in the movie theater. My ringtone is the trumpet solo (2:37). My Twitter bio even pays tribute to this movie. The core concept of this song has stayed with me my whole life – the secret to happiness is appreciating the stuff right around you.

Honorable Mention: Part of Your World, The Little Mermaid

My daughters insisted.

They also insisted this new entry from 2013:
